Sunday, August 24th: Since this Supra
has been sitting in our shop for some time and we've decided to get more
serious about selling this vehicle. We decided to take it out for a
test drive to ensure it was in good running order. Sometimes from sitting
for extended periods and being started only to be relocated within the shop,
the tune can change, plugs can get fuel fouled, etc. Since we happen to know
and be located close to the gentleman who performed every modification to
this Supra, we made an appointment with him to meet us at our shop and look
over his work of art! He enjoyed seeing his baby and he hooked the laptop up
to check all the AEM program settings and ensure everything was in good
running order. Not a single tuning parameter had been changed.
We put new plugs in just for the heck of it and then took the Supra for a
drive and quickly established that this Supra starts up and idles like a
stock supra and runs great! This gentleman also said he'd be willing to be a
resource for the next buyer in the event somebody needs a resource for
questions or changing the tune--which is great because this guy really knows
his stuff as you can tell by looking at all the modifications he completed
on this Supra.
1993 MkIV Supra Turbo in Anthracite Exterior with Brand New Black Leather interior, a fresh Titan Assembled motor w/ break-in miles only, 72mm ball bearing turbo, and a boost logic built Automatic transmission. This is one of 114 Anthracite Auto Supras. See the detailed list of all upgrades below--this combination of turbo, fuel system and engine management has been proven several times to make over 550whp on pump gas and well over 700whp on race gas. That comes out to be over 800hp at the crank. Try Googling "Supra MKIV T-72" and see what you find. :)
We took this supra on trade from a doctor at the end of last summer and it has been sitting in our shop on a battery tender ever since. The carfax report is clean ad does mention the car being in an accident (wheel having curb impact) in 2001. We seldom ever stock vehicles with mileage this high; however, every now and then a vehicle with high mileage surprises you as this one did us!
The carfax report is clean but does have an entry mentioning an accident involving curb impact in 2001 so we took it on trade subject to a Toyota dealership inspection @ Toyota of Puyallup and the results are below. The inspection checked out better than we would have imagined for such a high mileage vehicle. The results show the engine compression as follows: 1=145, 2=145, 3=140, 4=145, 5=150, 6=140. Only two other comments include wiper fluid washer jets inoperable and uneven wear on the inner tires - note these wheels were just installed and the uneven wear was from customer's Supra we bought the wheels from. Click on the thumbnails below to view the detailed report:
The Supra is very impressive, especially with the quality of modifications the previous owner has done (prior to the doctor). The doctor swapped the entire interior out with a freshly recovered black set. He also added the 18" Fikses, which he obtained from us as well as the MVP front lip and a Greddy Exhaust to quiet the car down a bit (believe it is the Greddy SP or PE). Finally he changed out some of the dash plastics, floor mats, and a few other items and the interior of the car is now looking amazing, as you will see in the photos below.
We drove this Supra to the Toyota dealership for the inspection and found it to be a very quality car that has been built and tuned properly. The new motor has just completed break-in and we just completed a compression check on it to ensure the piston rings were seated and all cylinders have the proper range of pressure. It starts right up, idles great, runs smooth, shifts perfectly, and is insanely powerful. The Supra does have a methanol injection kit installed, which can kind of be a question mark, but can easily be removed. It also has some nitrous parts installed, but it has never been hooked up or used since the new motor was installed.
In terms of condition, I'd rate the interior a 9.5 out of ten. Could use some organization and a better layout in the rear hatch. Also don't care for the Greddy controller being mounted over the tachometer, but that is very easy to relocate as it is simply velcro mounted. I'd rate the exterior a 7.5 or 8 out of 10. We used two 500 Kilowatt halogen lights and turned off all the other lights in the shop to really get light on just the flaws to capture photos. The good news is that the flaws show up, but the bad news is that it throws so much light on the paint that dust particles, reflections, and a lot of other items really stand out as well. We've added text to the photos to coincide with the description of the flaws. I think it does a good job of capturing the flaws - but may have a tendency to make them appear a lot worse then they are with these lights on them versus what you'd see walking up to it outside in natural light. Below are all the flaws we identified on the exterior:
Photo 100.jpg show by far the most significant flaw on the car is a series touch-up marks on the driver rear quarter panel. These are just above the top of the center of the tire at the fender edge.

Photos 101.jpg and 102.jpg show 4 different flaws on the rear bumper. If your goal was to create a show quality car, would probably want to have repainted. On the pasenger edge where it meets the quarter panel there is a line of touch-up. There is an area on the top of the bumper looking down that appears fogged. There is also a spot that has stress/spider cracks on the passenger rear most corner. Lastly - this is the hardest to detect, but directly under the rear tail lights appears a white area - not sure why. Most minor of the 4 items though.

Photos 103.jpg and 104.jpg show the two front fenders with a pretty normal amount of rock chips on the two front fenders.
Photo 105.jpg shows a Touch-up mark on the passenger mirror

Photos 106.jpg and 107.jpg show two small flaws in the passenger door and I believe one has been touched up.
There are also 2 chips in the back rear edge of the rear spoiler that were two small to capture a photo of. The engine bay looks awesome and with just a bit of looming and cleanup could be show worthy!
